Mideast foes mark three-year milestone of Israeli soldier's capt

Thursday marks the third anniversary of the capture of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit in Gaza. Shalit, now 22, was abducted by Palestinian fighters in June 2006 after militants tunnelled under Gaza's border to attack an Israeli army post. Two other soldiers died in the raid. The conscript was seized at the age of 19 and has become a cause celebre in Israel, where military service is compulsory and many believe the government has a sacred duty to bring all its soldiers home. Americans Lose Confidence in Banks

Twenty-two percent of Americans have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in banks, down from 32% who said the same at this time last year. Americans' confidence in the military, however, is up; 82% say they have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence compared to 71% who said the same last year.
